2006

Here comes September, which means ‘back to school’ time. For me, that meant returning for year #2 of preschool at Village. I also am signed up for EPD (extended preschool day) on Monday’s this year, which means I stay there from 9:00 to 3:00 instead of the usual 9:00 to 11:30. I love EPD and have made some new friends this year and still have a lot of the same kids in my class as last year. As a four-year-old, I also get to go Mon-Wed-Fri this year; last year I only went Tues-Thurs.

To kick off the month, our family took a short trip which has quickly become a family tradition. We headed to the Topeka Zoo for the day. It is much smaller than the Kansas City Zoo, but that’s a good thing. Less walking and you can actually see the whole zoo in a couple hours.

We also went to a Concert at the Park event this month that included an instrument petting zoo. For the uninitiated, it is a chance for kids to try out all the different instruments of the orchestra. Don’t worry – they have lots of sanitizer wipes that they swab the horns and such with after every use.

Of course, it was also fun since my family was all there along with Uncle Mark and my friend Julian and his family.

Uncle Mark also came along with Dad and me on a trip to the Renaissance Festival. I was very excited to get to try out armour, so putting on the breastplate (at right) was a definite highlight.
However, it is very hard to pick a highlight. I loved seeing the jousting and was very excited to get to ride on an elephant!

You’d think all that would have been plenty, but I also managed to squeeze in a camping trip the night before going to the RenFest. Mom spent the night with me in my tent that I got for my birthday from Grandmommy Shirley. Dad and Levi stayed at home for the night. Levi’s not quite ready for camping. It’s hard to squeeze the crib in the tent.

That’s it for September! Kick back, relax, and say hello to autumn coming next month!
