May 30, 2010: Levi’s 5th Birthday |
In my fourth year of life, I became quite enthralled with I Spy books (for those not in the know, these are books in which you have to find hidden objects on each page). In fact, I had a very specific plan to celebrate my 5th birthday “I Spy” style. When I woke up in the morning, I was going to go downstairs and there would be 100 I Spy books hidden around the room. Mom and Dad worked hard to dissuade me from expecting that. I would, however, have several other I Spy surprises for my birthday. |
When I woke up, there was a trail of cards leading from my room to downstairs. |
Once downstairs, I found a bunch of I Spy pictures on the wall, homemade by Dad and Evan. |
So it turned out that the cards were all pictures from the different I Spy pictures on the wall. It was my job to match all the cards up to the right spots on the right pictures. Dad had also put the pictures together in a book for me. |
At my request, we also had a family-only birthday lunch with, of course, pasta. |
To top it all off, I then had an I Spy cake. I very specifically requested blue icing on white frosting on a round, white cake. |
And here’s a first – we’ve even got a video posted! Bear with us – the video starts out sideways, but it doesn’t last long. Hey, we just figured out how to post video. We’ll figure editing out later. Check it out below: |
Well, we didn’t take the obligatory shots of me opening presents, among my gifts were some I Spy books (surprise surprise) from Mama and Papa, a stuffed dog from Uncle Mark (I have plenty but had asked for another one), an I Spy type game from Grandmommy Shirley. |
It was a great day, but eventually it had to end so that night I tucked myself into my new sleeping bag, surrounded by stuffed animals. Good night, all – and happy birthday to me! |
