Matt and Amy Crouch’s wedding, June 2008
From a 5 Year Old’s Perspective
Hi! I’m Evan and I’ll be your guide for Matt and Amy’s wedding. Who am I? Well, Matt’s my second cousin – my dad and Matt’s mom are first cousins. I’d been to a couple weddings before this, but this is the first I really remember, so I thought I’d offer up a glimpse of what a wedding is like – from a five year old’s perspective.

Well, first off, if you’re going to have an outdoor wedding, I don’t recommend the hottest day on record in North Carolina in 20 years…

At the left, Dad and Levi and I are trying to cool off. Then Mom joined us in the photo at the right.

Amy and the bridesmaids So, the first thing that apparently happens at a wedding is a bunch of people get in a line in front of everybody else. There’s some talking and music… Matt and the groomsmen
Floyd, Carolyn, Matt, Amy, Dustin, and Jesse Crouch …and a bunch of photos… Jesse, Matt, and Dustin Crouch

Then comes the most important part…dancing!

Then they throw this thing called a garter and I got to try to catch it. I’m not sure what I would have done with it if I got it.

They also threw some flowers to the girls. I’m not sure why they did that either.

Almost as important as the dancing is the cake. It even had Princess Leia and Han Solo from Star Wars on it!
Then Matt and Amy smashed the cake in each other’s faces! For some reason, Mom and Dad don’t think it’s quite so fun when my face looks like that after I finish eating cake.

So my overall assessment of the first wedding I really remember? I think the photo at right says it all.
