2005

Tut, Tut, Looks Like Rain! In the photo above, I dug out my rain boots and umbrella for some indoor play reenacting a scene from Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.

We actually had some great weather for going to the park. I even got to fly a kite! I also practiced kicking, climbing, and dribbling.

As summer draws near, I’m prepping for plenty of swimming in outdoor pools. In the meantime, Dad and I have taken an AquaTots class pretty consistently during non-summer months since I’ve been six months old. I’ve learned to kick and dig and put my face under water. I also love to get cups of water and pour them on Dad’s head.

Speaking of Dad, he had a birthday this month (he turned 38 on April 10). I helped decorate Dad’s cake – as you can see, I also sampled the frosting to make sure it tasted okay.

Grandmommy Shirley sent Dad a package for his birthday that also had something for me – playdough!

Ever since I was but a wee tike, I’ve gone to activities sponsored by Family Network, which is affiliated with Parents As Teachers. Now I’ve done the events, like the fire station, more than once and am a pro. Even though I hadn’t visited in over a year, I remembered them raising the ladders last year and asked if they would do it again. Alas, this year, I only got to take the truck for a spin around the block.

Mom and Dad and I went to an activity called “the instrument petting zoo” where I got to hear some music played by a trio from the Kansas City Symphony and then see and try out instruments up close.

Mom’s friend Kelly and her 4-year-old son Patrick came through town on their way toward their new home in Arizona. Mom knew Kelly from her Wisconsin and Chicago days and they even grew up in the same area in New York, although they didn’t know each other then.
