2003 |
One of my favorite games these days is 'Psych.' I offer something to someone and then pull it away when they try to grab it and then I laugh. I also laugh when other people play 'Psych' on me. Then there's also the 'Which Hand Is It In?' game. I hide my hands behind my back and after Mom or Dad guesses which hand, I pull them both out and open my hands. Of course, the object is always in the same hand - I haven't figured out the complexities of the game, like switching the object to the other hand while my hands are behind my back. A favorite activity with Mom is making faces in the mirror. We do happy, sad, crazy (stick out tongue and shake head), shocked/surprised, and curious. Mom and Dad like the curious face best. I put my index finger on my lips and make a face that says 'hmmm.' |
Playing, having fun, and being silly are definitely becoming priorities to me. Here's shots of me playing the drum, playing with a balloon (and a phone in the other hand), and trying on Dad's sweater. |
November 3, 2003: Well, I have my first official illness. We went to the doctor because I had a really rough night sleeping and it turns out I had an ear infection. Mom wasn't crazy about me having to get antibiotics, but Mom and Dad are both glad that I've been so healthy overall. |
November 14, 2003: I had my 15-month checkup today. I'm 24 pounds, 8 ounces (50th percentile) and 31 inches tall (70 percentile). I also have seven teeth - four on top, three on bottom. Two molars are also coming in. In terms of food, I eat lots of table foods and feed myself. My favorites are grapes, bananas, and ham. On another note, I can communicate about 60 words - if you combine words I can say, sign, or make sound effects for (like animal sounds). Mom thinks Dad may be stretching it, but he wrote all the words out and that's what he came up with. I actively sign things that are part of my daily routine - eat, drink, sleep, diaper change, etc. I've made up some of my own signs - for 'elephant' I raise my hand while simultaneously making a sound effect of an elephant trumpeting. For monkey, I rub my hands on my chest while going 'oooh oooh oooh.' I also say 'wa-wa' for water now and sing 'row row row' for boat. I'm working on the word 'clock,' but right now only Mom and Dad would actually understand me. |
November 17, 2003: Here I am trying to figure out why all these leaves are down on the ground instead of up in the tree. |
November 20-23, 2003: Aunt Jojo (Mom's friend Jodie) came to visit! She calls me 'Frankie' (as in Frankenstein) since she says she helped 'make' me - that is, she was there when I was born. Before she came, Dad worked with me to get me to say 'Jojo,' but I didn't quite get it down while she was here. However, I did give her smooches - one of my favorite activities now. Jodie also said it was her favorite thing about the trip. |
November 27, 2003 - Thanksgiving: We didn't make any special plans for the day. We just stayed in town and visited my grandparents for a simple dinner. In the morning, Mom let me watch about 20 minutes of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV. Quite the treat since, as most of you may know, Mom and Dad have strictly avoided having the TV on around me. I loved the bands and the music, as well as the Big Bird balloon. |
November 30, 2003: About a year ago, our neighbors Steve and Mary took a photo of us on Steve's motorcycle. (Check out the photo from a year ago on the November 2002 page). We repeated the tradition here. Steve also entertained me with a frog puppet. |
