2003

left to right: Liz, Shirley, Evan, Becky, Jennifer October 3-5, 2003: Mom and I flew to Indiana to see my cousin Liz at college. Aunt Jennifer and Grandma Shirley joined us. We had a great time! I got lots of attention from all the college kids and I ate it up. I smiled, clapped on command, and pointed at lots of things (my form of conversation starters). We went to a street fair, played in the park, ate at the cafeteria, and walked all around Liz's campus.
You know how everyone has those stories about relatives that let kids drive well before the age of 16? Well, while I was in Indiana with my cousin Liz, Aunt Jennifer, and Grandma Shirley, look what I did when Mom wasn't looking!

We also visited a student-run farm while we were there and I made friends with Junior, who was very excited to know that my first animal noise was 'baaa!'

October 7, 2003: I stood up on my own! I've had walking down for a few weeks, but when I fell down, I'd have to crawl over to something to pull myself up. As you can see by this photo, though, Mom and Dad have taken it too far. They now think I should carry my own diaper bag. Sheesh! October 20, 2003
October 20, 2003 Of course, the fact that I can get around on my own also means a lot of 'exploring' on my part. Here I'm 'refiling' Dad's CDs for him.

October 8, 2003: Mom and Dad got involved in Parents As Teachers when I was about six-months old. For those of you that don't know, the program provides a play center (which Dad and I visit every week) and send parent educators to your house for visits. Anyway, tonight our parent educator, Cindy, was out for a visit. She gave me a developmental screening. I showed off for her as much as possible. The only thing I needed to work on was fine motor skills - things like stacking blocks.

Halloween 2003: Mom and Dad and I went to Deanna Rose Farm and picked out a pumpkin to carve for Halloween. I was fascinated with pumpkin guts. Dad kept trying to scoop them out of the pumpkin, but I worked hard to keep putting them back in where they obviously belonged.
Originally Mom got me a giraffe costume to wear for Halloween, but when I started making cow sounds (Mooo!) with a 'B' (Booo!), it was pretty obvious that I needed to be a cow for Halloween. We just trick-or-treated to four neighbor's houses. I knocked on the doors, carried my own candy bucket, and picked out candy all by myself. picking out candy at Steve and Mary's house
