2004

Beginning of July, 2004: July started off with quite a bang, if you’ll excuse the bad fireworks pun. We had three different house guests overlapping each other in the week leading up to the 4th of July. First, Susan Miller, a friend of Aunt Jennifer’s, came to stay for a week while she did research on Campfire Girls here in Kansas City. As you can see in the photo at the right, I served as her research assistant and helped her type up her notes. with Susan Miller – July 1, 2004
with Andrea Rasmussen – July 2, 2004 On the same day that Susan Miller left, in came two more friends. Dad knew Andrea from his child care work and Mom has known Susan back to her days in theater in Wisconsin. Andrea had never met me before – she moved to Idaho on the day I was born! Susan has been here a couple times, including her first visit just six weeks after I was born. with Susan McGinnis – July 2, 2004

July 4, 2004 As you can see in the picture above with Susan McGinnis, I really wanted to get at that camera. Well, here you can see me at work on both sides of the lens. At the left, I’m satisfying my shutterbug urge and at the right I’m practicing hamming it up. Whenever anyone says to smile for a photo, that’s the face they get. Hey, if someone wants to catch me in a more natural pose, they’re gonna have to work at it. July 29, 2004

July 11, 2004 – with Elise McCall July 11, 2004: Another big event this month was getting to visit newborn Elise McCall, who I call “Babe ‘Lise.” Her brother Andrew, at right, was born five months before me. Their mom Kathy and my dad have known each other from their days working at North Kansas City School District together. In the picture at the right with Andrew, we’re taking a dip in his pool. with Andrew McCall – July 11, 2004

July 16, 2004 July 16, 2004: Mom and Dad and I also made a trek to the Children’s Museum. I’d been there a couple of times with Dad, but this was my first trip with Mom. My favorite activities were the shopping area (pictures above) and the golf cart (left) that let me pretend I was driving a real car. As you can see, I impressed Mom and Dad enough with my driving ability, that they let me drive Mom’s car home (right). July 9, 2004

July 18, 2004: Well, I’m not even 2 yet and I’m following Mom’s interest in the theater. Seussical – The Musical came to Kansas City at the Coterie Theatre and Mom and Dad got tickets knowing how much I love Dr. Seuss. As a trial run, we saw a shorter production of Curious George. I loved both, staring at the performances with utter fascination through the entire shows.

July 31, 2004: I also went to a birthday party this month for Savannah, who turned three. We had pizza, my second favorite food to mac’ and cheese, a clown, and balloon animals. I wasn’t too sure about the clown, but I warmed up to her. I loved my balloon hat, though, and it was fun wearing this lion mask!
