Welcome to March! My big highlight this month was going on plane trip to North Carolina to visit Grandma Shirley. Mom and I even visited the park where she and Dad got married just down the hill from Grandma’s house. I liked seeing the lake in the park and I hung out in the gazebo where Mom and Dad had the actual ceremony.
At Grandma’s house, I was very busy. There were important things to do like help her vacuum or call home and make sure Dad was doing okay without me.
There was still time for fun, too. I got to see Mom’s Aunt Ginny and Uncle Charlie. Also, Mom and Grandma and I went to a petting zoo. I got to say ‘baa’ to a sheep and had fun with the goat as well.
Back at home, we had a visit from Susan, a friend of Mom’s from her theater days in Appleton, Wisconsin.
We also went to Union Station in Kansas City to see Cat in the Hat in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ 100th anniversary of his birth. I got to see a live Cat in the Hat and hear some Dr. Seuss stories. We also went to Crown Center and saw a Dr. Seuss play and saw an exhibit.
As for the development front, I definitely want to do things for myself these days. It is very frustrating, though, because I can’t always figure stuff out. For example, I want to dress myself by putting on my own pants and shoes. That’s hard work; I don’t know how people do that every day. I finally gave up and just put on Dad’s shoes instead. They went on my feet much easier.
There were successes, too. I used a fork for the first time! Oh sure, I used it to eat a banana, not exactly a fork kind of food, but I’ll eat my bananas my way and you can eat them your way.
I also invented a new game. I like to take the hangers out of my closet and hang them on the side of my crib. Who needs a closet?
