November 3: My Uncle Mark celebrated his birthday at our house. We decorated the house, got him a cake, and, no surprise here, Dad gave him some CDs. If Dad has never made you CDs for a present, well, you’ve obviously indicated that don’t like music of any kind.
At the right is my very first full-fledged drawing. Oh sure, I’d done plenty of doodling and scribbling before. I especially like to pretend I’m writing letters. This, however, was the first time I’d really drawn a picture where I identified what the objects were and one could recognize the objects as what I said they were. And what better way to start than a picture of my family?
On this same note, Mom recently journaled about my developing independence. I can almost completely dress myself now; I like looking at books on my own; I brush my teeth; I drive myself to school…okay, I threw that last one in just to see if you were paying attention.
November has become our traditional month for an annual outdoor photo shoot, courtesy of our neighbor Mary. The family photos always include some shots on her husband Steve’s motorcycle.
I brought along my dragon hat, a recent present from Steve and Mary, for the shoot.
I enjoyed this motorcycle thing so much that I made Dad play the part of a motorcycle as well.
The dragon hat is just one indication of how much I enjoy pretending these days. I love to use our fireplace as a stage to do plays or songs.
Aunt Jennifer sent me my very own luggage as an early Christmas present, more specifically as a present for me to get ready for our Christmas trip to North Carolina. Here I’ve obviously overpacked – I forgot to actually leave some pants out to wear.
I’ve been doing well in adjusting to being a big brother. Most of the time I’m very sweet to Levi and look after him. Sometimes I pull my toys away from him so that he doesn’t drool on them, but that’s about as bad as it gets.
