2005

Welcome to December, where a 3-year-old’s life is pretty dominated by all things Christmas.

I would like to say, though, that I am perhaps easier to please than most. We went to see Santa and the only thing I told him I wanted was a carrot for my toy bunny. When Christmas did arrive, I was pretty excited by even the simplest things – I got some picks for my toy guitar and loved playing with bubble wrap (hey, how old do you have to be to not enjoy bubble wrap?).

No, I did pretty well at recognizing that there is more to December than Christmas…there’s also snow. Well, hopefully. That can be iffy in the Midwest. We did get a pretty good pre-Christmas coating, though.

Interestingly, one of my highlights of the month was an event normally associated with warm weather. While in North Carolina for Christmas, the weather was unseasonably warm and I trekked down to a nearby lake with assorted cousins of Mom’s and went fishing. With nothing more than a stick, string, and some bait I caught my very first fish! We put it back in the water, but then my second cousin Ethan (only a few months older than me) caught the same fish again and by then the fish was pretty much done.

You can check out the links below to see more regarding my Christmas celebrations, but let’s not forget how important it is to enjoy family at times like these. Ride on Dad’s shoulders, help Mom put in her earrings, play with your brother while sitting in your underwear…this is what Christmas and family is all about.

See ya next month!
